April 15
There's not a lot to say today. That's a good thing! Joel continues to make great progress in his occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy. They are primarily working on coordination, strength, visual-spatial awareness, and some mild cognitive things. His left side is improving, but still needs work. Joel's trying to break out of rehab and get home... there's a meeting tomorrow between all the staff, and we'll get a recommendation for discharge/follow-up services after that. Will update when we know something. No pathology report to share for a couple more weeks.
Today he got to do obstacle courses, slow motion Richard Simmons moves, take a long stroll, pull tiny beads out of putty, do math problems, walk on different types of surfaces, and use tweezers to sort little doodads. He's taking it all in stride- both encouraged by and proud of his progress, and also continually realizing things that he will have to relearn (typing, guitar, piano). Every day is everything.
Enjoy some pictures of this PT athlete!

We will still be available even when he comes home, so it's not overwhelming for you to handle. You both need rest, a good diet and space. You are well into the journey of healing but share the load of what's ahead.
Keep up the good and hard work, Joel! Doodads and sweet moves and all of the ups and downs that come with each day. We are thinking of and praying for You, Joy, Everett and Amelie every day.
