Daddy's sister, Barbara Ann, stayed with him last night and reports that he rested fairly well. The doctors made their rounds earlier this morning. In addition to the other meds hooked up to his IV, they have added a blood thinner to reduce the possibility of clots. A colon cleanse will most likely be performed today as well to ensure his comfort and well-being.
The nurse felt sure that he tried to ask for Mama last night. She will be back with him this afternoon. February 12 will be their 65th Wedding Anniversary - she is a strong woman and is holding up well, but continued prayers for her as well as Daddy - for all of us, really - are truly appreciated. We are not without hope and trust, but it's very difficult to see him with the breathing tube and necesssary wrist restraints to keep him from attempting to remove it if he becomes agitated. It's especially difficult when it's clear that he's trying to communicate something to us and cannot yet. I think we'll all be relieved when the tube is removed and we can begin to communicate with him again.
