Things are really looking up today. When Dan and I arrived at Louis' Office, we found Louis wide awake! He has been taken off of all IV pain medications and his little breathing mask is turned off. Two of the main IV lines were removed also. We were able to hold him and read to him from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Although he is still hooked up to a lot of things, it's very positive that he is breathing with absolutely no assistance and his heartbeat and blood pressures are looking good.
We will still need to have his chest tubes and peritoneal drain removed and begin feedings before he can relocate his office from the PICU to a regular hospital room.
I'll update with more information tomorrow. Louis is one tough cookie! Love that pink baby.

So happy to hear he is doing well. Stubby gave me a heads up a bit ago after he spoke with your parents. Your heart will melt with the first non gas smile. I love seeing James smile at me every morning when he wakes up.
That's great to hear! Prayers will continue. Louis must get his resilience from his parents. You've entered parenthood the way nobody should have to. John 14:27b "...the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid."
I love to see you holding Louis! What a blessing. I am so glad to see he is doing so well! Continuing to pray for complete healing and for you and Dan!
Those eyes! Those beautiful eyes! He is one very loved baby. This is wonderful news. I pray that God gives you all the strength you need for Louis and for yourselves. Keeping all of you in our prayers.
What great news! Prayers for continued healing. Louis has beautiful eyes and he is pink.
I'm so happy to hear of all the positive things happening. You all are so strong.
Louis is so beautiful. I just keep watching and re-watching the slide show for this post. He's healing perfectly and surrounded by love. Thank you for sharing his journey.
Oh man, that pic of Dan yawning- just shows the lack of sleep you too have had, I'm sure. But your boy! Those eyes😍
