Louis has started taking most of his feeds orally (75% by mouth, nursing or breast milk bottle, as opposed to the feeding tube). For part of the day today we were able to remove the feeding tube and see his beautiful face without the tube and tape. He's so precious! I think he has Dan's eyes and my Polish nose. He's the perfect mix of the two of us.
I'll be brief for now, but I keep thinking about how to go about raising a child to be strong and confident, kind and patient, and comfortable in his skin (with all its scars). I want to be sure he always knows how capable he is, and how very loved he is.
How do I do that?

How do you do that? Just love him and everything will work out, God is on your side and watching over him and you and Dan. You will be just like your mom, a fantastic mom and friend to your son. He has a beautiful smile and soon he will be running all over the place.

He already is. So precious. Beautiful baby boy. He is a fighter. Don't worry about him. He will conquer the world.

Continue just as you are doing now. Unconditional love of parents will shape him to be who he should be. You both are stronger than you think. You will do a great job with Louis, you already have. (Drink Louis, drink and be home for Christmas)
Only by the grace of God!:) You keep living and loving and growing along with him, and together with Dan. It's so cool that the very creator of the universe cares about even the smallest details in the lives of his creation. God is an awesome Father, guide, and provider! You won't do it perfectly, but you'll do it Nicole and Dan-style, just what Louise needs! (My, oh my what a cutie he is! Love his smile and seeing his personality coming through!) So thankful for you all!
