Ready for operations tomorrow...
Lyla was admitted into the hospital this afternoon to get ready for her pre-transplant operations tomorrow. She just received a blood transfusion to get her hemoglobin levels up and she's now starting on Milrinone which will also help her heart not have to work so hard. Going into any operation with heart problems is concerning but we feel confident that the medicine and extra blood will help a lot.
As long as her cold doesn't get worse (or else anesthetist won't allow operations), she will go into surgery at 11am tomorrow and will be gone for 3-4 hours :( Although all are fairly minor, she has a long list of things to get done:
Port Catheter (IV line under skin used for enzyme infusions in the next 2 months); GT tube (valve out of stomach to allow food to go directly into stomach during transplant process); Lumbar puncture (collects spinal fluid around the brain and spinal cord); Ear tubes (to allow fluid to drain and prevent infection during transplant process); and finally a Brain MRI
Fingers crossed for our brave little girl tomorrow ♥
