Day +61 - No news is good news!

It's been awhile since we've posted (sorry!) but no news is good news....Lyla is still doing great! She has been very busy playing with all her birthday presents the last couple weeks!

Her rashes came back so she had a biopsy last week. The results were negative for graft versus host disease which is a relief. It's likely late side effects of chemo. Lyla is still pretty uninterested in eating which is confusing to us since she's happy and active, but the doctors assured us it's normal and not to worry. We are giving her extra formula through her gtube (valve direct to stomach) which her tummy is tolerating and she's maintaining her weight so that's good. It's much easier than giving TPN (IV nutrition) so we are happy with that until she gets her appetite back.
Lyla's white blood cells have fluctuated some over the last few weeks. The level is fine for her stage in transplant process but she still has to remain isolated in our room or wear a mask when we go out (which doesn't work very well on a one year old)!
Lyla's dark hair is starting to sprout up again! It's fussy and mostly around her hair line and face. She's starting to get a little baby mustache! The unusual hair growth is from a drug she will be taking for the next year, so she's going to be awkwardly hairy for awhile!
So, the question we keep asking and I'm sure others are wondering....do we really have to stay in Minnesota for 100 days if Lyla is doing so well? Unfortunately the answer is yes :( the doctors are pretty strict about it and she's still vulnerable to potentially life threatening issues. Although we are tired of being here, the most important thing is to keep Lyla healthy (and happy)!
Steve actually just went back to Arizona for a week so lucky him and lucky Lyla because grammie Bisnett is on her way here!
We hope all our friends and family are doing well, we miss everyone so much!

Dear Steve and Helen, Thank you for the update. I was thinking about Lyla and you this past week and was wondering how Lyla was doing. We are praying for Lyla and for you as well. I am so happy that you are up to speed on Lyla's treatments and probably know more than the nurses :). You are amazing and naturally your Daughter is amazing as well. Love You, Geoff & Rebeka
