Seasons
Back in April, Mike participated in a clinical trial using car T cells to hopefully cure him from the lymphoma that had invaded his chest.
Two months after the car T cells were infused back into his body, we heard the words we have been wanting to hear for over two years. Complete remission!
Mike and I, and the kids, where as ecstatic as you can imagine! It finally felt like the tides were really turning for us. Mike was feeling great, and life was feeling pretty good again. We took another family vacation to Branson, and had so much fun woh the kids at Silver Dollar City. Lucky for me, Mike could handle all of the spinning rides with the kids! The girls started school in August- Molly in 2nd grade, Lucy in 1st. (Reid is still hanging out as my sidekick until preschool next year!) I enjoyed a trip to NYC with my best friend, Audrey, and then we celebrated Mike’s 45th birthday in October! My sister and brother in law gave Mike the gift of another nephew, Luke Mitchel, on October 2nd.
Unfortunately, the good times were short-lived, and we were back in the fight for his life. For our life. Mike’s lymphoma has been so unkind, and relentless. Lucky for us, Mike is the most stubborn man I know. The next plan is to try a chemo that he hasn’t had before. It is an attempt to get the cancer back under control in order for him to get a second stem cell transplant. This time they will use a donor’s cells, as opposed to his own cells like they did with his first transplant. He should start treatment next week. We are hoping that after a couple rounds of this chemo we will see some improvement, then maybe by February he could get the transplant.
It was three years ago last week that we first heard the words, “It looks like lymphoma.” Boy am I glad we couldn’t see all of the ups and downs that we would go through in the next three years following that.
Thanks for hanging in there with us.
Xo Robin

Prayers, prayers, and more prayers!! Thinking of your whole family!!
Sorry to hear the remission was short lived. Praying for all of you and glad you had the good times while you could. Have a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving.
I hate that you guys just can’t catch a break! You’re right though, Mike is stubborn and you are strong! You are all in our continued daily prayers! Sending love and hugs your way.
One day at a time, I guess we aren’t promised more. Make the most of each day. All three kids have good memories to build on. Use their youth and energy to make you both stronger for this new battle.
There are so many words flying through my head right now—most of which I should not post on social media. I hate that the remission was so short—but am glad that there is a new chemo that Mike can try. We will be praying for you as you start this next treatment plan. We love you guys and are praying so hard for you!
Oh darn it!! I hate to hear this!! Mike u hang in there and I will be praying that all of you remain strong!! I know it has to be so hard for all of you to hear those words again after being in remission. Breaks my heart!!
Lifting ALL of you in prayer! Keep fighting Mike!
Oh Mike and Robin, so sorry to hear this....we are praying!!
I am sorry you and your family continue to battle Mike's darned Lymphoma. What a relentless disease! I pray this new treatment will bring a continued remission at last for your amazing family! You all are heroes to all of us! Hang in there Hortons!
My prayers are always with you and your family. I used to be a Para at JCN, so I know your girls through school. Last year I got to hang out in Lucy's kindergarten room a little each day. I "retired" in May to play Grandma all day, but my daughter is Lucy's teacher this year. Miss Wilson loves her and says she thinks she'll be a writer someday. May God give you special blessings and extra strength for the fight in front of you. You all are an inspiration to us all. You handle it all with such Grace. Beth Wilson
Keeping Mike and your family in our prayers!
Many prayers Robin! Keep hanging tough! ❤️
We were so blessed to see your girls at Lopez Saturday. They were so adorable when they saw Reyna and Rowan, they both ran up and gave huge hugs and the sweetest smiles ever. Sending love, prayers and many air hugs!💖💖💖
