Robbie has moved to a physical therapy center.
First and foremost, thank you to EVERYONE who has called, emailed, facebooked, posted on this webpage, visited in person or sent well wishes in any form. We all feel so much love and support through this trying time. Robbie is already improving beyond our wildest dreams and while each step is small, they are still of great importance. Just yesterday, he went from practicing single words to reciting Shakespeare for his speech therapist.
Robbie has always been a determined person, but with the backing of his massive community he could not be more motivated. Through your love, laughs, encouragement and stories of recovery from other traumas, Robbie has the strength of a giant! So, thank you! And while the road is not paved, it is at least made of golden stones and there are lots of sparkling moments we have already enjoyed because of you. So, please keep them coming, Robbie checks [email protected] daily, looks on facebook, and is still playing Words with Friends...so challenge him, email him or post anything on here that will remind him you are thinking of him.
Robbie’s spirits remain high and his desire to start to rebuild and recover are immense. Much to our pleasure, Robbie was transferred from Marin General Hospital to an acute therapeutic rehabilitation center with a reputation for excellence and fast healing! He is extremely excited to begin this process. Acute Care, for those unfamiliar, is a treatment of continuous, active and rigorous therapeutic rehabilitation. This will be keeping Robbie very busy, with the hopes of getting him home as soon as possible.
At this facility, Robbie will be spending virtually all day working towards his goals. He is committed to maximizing his time there, as are we. We want him home! And it will be at this time, when he’s home, that visits and assistance will be most appreciated! We aren’t sure exactly how long, but promise to keep all updates coming.
Lastly, but hardly least, we are humbled by the generosity of Robbie’s friends through the fundraising webpage and privately. After 20+ years of paying into health insurance, Robbie only just recently lost his health coverage and was in the process of applying for a new plan. The timing couldn’t have been worse. But the kindness that his community has bestowed leaves us in awe! Thank you for allowing us to focus on Robbie’s care and recovery.
