Here's To A Better Week
This week has been a good one, I've even gone to work some. I'm learning that I'm better at predicting when my good weeks will be than how bad my chemo benders and chemo hangovers will be. What I do know is that dealing with chemo is like a boxing match. Just when you've learned how to evade the mean right hook, your opponent surprises you with a body blow that knocks the wind out of you. So, the way I see it, I just have to be ready for anything during the chemo benders and make sure I have an excellent cornerman. The better I do during the round, the better the hangover should be. Best laid plans, right? Maybe I should hire Mike Tyson. He's ruthless and skilled. If he's willing to bite off an ear, he's probably got some pretty good strategy. Plus he seems kind of hilarious and is basically unemployed.
On Saturday Lois and I are driving to Houston together for my monthly oncology appointments. While I'm there I'll see Kim briefly before flying out to my reunion. Then I will fly back to Lubbock just in time to start chemo the following week. In order for me to get to my appointments in Houston, then to my reunion, etc., it takes a lot of coordination with a lot of people. There's the transporting me, then the sending bulletproof coffee fixin's and other food needs ahead, and then there's the coordinating flying needs, etc. It took me more than a day to make all of the arrangements. As a professional traveler, it usually takes me less than an hour to plan a trip. I'm so much more high maintenance these days!
What I know more now that ever before is that I have the best friends in the world. Without the cancer, I wouldn't have had any idea how much my people love me. And, you know, you guys may not have known either. You are welcome.

Mike Tyson---hmmmm. You could be such a powerful influence on him, and he could do so much for you. I like it.
Love the comparison of chemo to boxing! You've got a mean right hook, though!! So much love and support coming from KY!
Kentucky women are badass. You don't need a Brooklyn punk to help you fight. Besides, you have better tatts.
