No Real News but Here's an Update Anyway

Some have asked for a quick update just so everyone knows what is happening with me. My fourth at home, 5 day chemo treatment ended a little over a week ago. This means that I'm 1/3 of the way through this treatment round. Once again, Jason feels that it went a little better than the time before. I had 2 bad days, the last day of my pill and the following day. I was a bit moody, not hungry, and fatigued. Within days I was back to my new normal and had a lot more energy. I've been able to get back to work on a more regular basis and I feel that all of my current issues are medication related side effects except for maybe one and it's the damndest thing. I am pretty sure I have the most reasonable explanation.

I've been finding random bruises in various locations on my body. I have one on the inside of my forearm that has been there for a couple of weeks. I also have noticed them on my legs, feet, and back. I know what you are thinking, I'm obviously just bruising easier when I hit something and then just forget that I injured myself because the incident was nonsignificant. But I've heard that ghosts will leave marks on people when they are haunted at night. Ghost Hunters (the television show) is where I got the research to develop this theory and they know these things. It's the only logical explanation, that some entity has developed an affection for me and is stalking me. I get it, I'm obviously irresistible.

I've been a bit bored with my diet so I've learned a few tricks. The point of my diet is to have most of my calories from fat while keeping carbs, protein, etc. on the low side and fiber moderate to high. This week I made a pizza with crust made out of psyllium husk powder. I've also discovered miracle noodles, a zero calorie fiber substance that will take on the flavor of any sauce you put with it. I chose a no carb, high fat cheese sauce and the dish tasted like homemade mac & cheese. It was heaven! In making the cheese sauce, I discovered that heavy whipping cream has loads of fat and calories, but no significant sugar or carbs. This opens up loads of possibilities: quiche, whipped topping made with stevia, and modified lattes!

Next trip to Houston is next week. Appointments all day on September 12 but no scans. Stay tuned for the next update.

Love the update! Glad this cycle was better. Also glad you are able to work. Your creativity with your diet continues to impress me. I also bruise easily through chemo despite my iron levels being normal. But ghosts did not occur to me-lol!!!

You are hilarious!! And I've got a great and EASY Alfredo sauce recipe for your miracle noodle. Cook 1 clove of garlic in 4 tablespoons of butter until fragrant. Then add 3/4 cup heavy cream, 3/4 cup Parmesan cheese (real stuff--not green can!), 1/4 cup Pecorino Romano cheese, salt and pepper. Cook for 2 minutes. Then add 3 packages of miracle noodles. Got this from the Wheat Belly Cookbook!! SOOOO good! :)
