Quick update
Like last time, Shannon seems to be rebounding from this surgery at amazing speed. Buddy and I just got to visit her and Jason for a bit and they are both in good spirits. Today Shannon was freed from all the tubes and wires that she’s been connected to since surgery, and she has been up and walking around a little already. Dr Sawaya stopped by for a visit and was happy to report that her post-surgery MRI is “beautiful!!”
Yesterday evening when Shannon finally got to put her glasses on, she reported that she was seeing double of everything. Visual impairment was Sawaya’s main concern with this surgery, so that was not entirely unexpected. But happily today the double-vision stopped! She is still experiencing some loss of vision on her left, but Sawaya reminded her that he just scooped out part of her brain yesterday and that it might still be a little swollen. He thinks that her vision will get better as the swelling goes down, so all of our fingers are crossed! In the meantime, if you want to play hide and seek with Shannon, stay on her left side. :-)
Tomorrow Shannon will get her hair done at the MD Anderson salon, “donate” some more blood for tests, and very likely get to go home before the end of the day. She is one tough mama!
