Pondering Suffering

I don't know if you will find this blog helpful, but I have, even though I don't fully understand the value of suffering.

Father Brodeski, our former pastor, was the first to reach out to Mark and I as we first began to wrestle with suffering over a year ago. This is because he understood. I highly value his insights because he walked the road of suffering with his sister for 17 years and struggled with the same questions of “why and for what purpose” that Mark and I struggle to comprehend.

January 22, marks the anniversary of the legislation known as Roe vs Wade which legalized abortion. The Catholic Church teaches the sanctity of life from birth to natural death. This sanctity comes from our Holy Creator who is above all. ALS is a disease associated with Physician Assisted Suicide. Understanding that all life has value and suffering is redemptive is what sets believers apart on this issue.

I encourage you to read what Father has written and ponder the role of suffering in your life, as we do and as Mother Mary did.

Thinking of you all in your suffering and praying for God’s Grace and Strength! Knowing Mark has positively impacted our lives, and especially our daughter, Hannah’s. We are blessed to have shared time with Mark and your family.

Praying for your family during this time. Thank you for sharing this! A common misconception is that if we are Christians, we shouldn't suffer. But we all know that not to be true. If we are to share in His glory, we are to share in His sufferings. Yet it is still so hard. May God show you evidences of His tender love and care each and every day. Romans 5:3-5 "And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us."
