More Healing

Thankfully, there have not been any more big changes for Levi.  He remains in the ICU on the ventilator on continuous medication to control his seizures.  There have been no fevers since late last night so we are hopeful the antibiotics are finally helping him out.  They will be leaving as much the same as possible today to give his body some time to heal.
Above, you can see one of the X-rays they took right before he needed more support for breathing.  Normally the airspace looks dark grey to black like you see near the upper part of the X-ray.  Due to all of the extra fluid, a lot of Levi’s airspace had collapsed making the bottom look white.  Yikes!  So glad he is getting support.

After a long few days, the whole family will be getting a little break today.  A nice surprise for Beth?  The Ronald McDonald House delivered her a smoothie this morning for breakfast.  It’s amazing how much little gestures like this can mean when you’re tired, hungry and stressed.  We have been amazed by how the Ronald McDonald House does for patients and families - lodging when needing care out of town, meals, gifts for pts and siblings, making special surprises for birthdays and Easter when we were too busy to think ahead, warm blankets when the Minnesota cold caught us off-guard.  And we haven’t even sought out as much as they offered.  Not one to encourage eating fast food, BUT, if you find yourself at a McDonalds drive through window or counter, please notice the donation boxes and drop in some extra change.  There are so many families who might just be in need of a pick me up after a long night…
