Less Waiting, More Pumping

Good Evening!

Chad began his second infusion today and it has gone very well so far. The wait time for the appointments today was considerably less than the last infusion and that helped with the overall feel of the day. We also had a better idea of what to expect and made some adjustments on how we prepared for the day that allowed both of us to be a bit more comfortable while we were there. Chad has his pump for the next two days and I will do the disconnect again at the clinic with a nurse on Wednesday. Being connected to the pump is not Chad's favorite but he's still smiling. I like to think that it's all of my Indiana Jones/Satchel/Fanny-Pack/Man-Purse/Murse references that he's smiling at but I’m not so sure.

There were no major developments to report, his lab work and vitals were all good. The disappointment of the day was that Chad did lose more weight after holding steady for a few weeks. We don't want him to lose any weight, especially not as much as he did, but we also understand that it's something that we are going to constantly have to work on and that we will have ups and downs with. He was given a prescription for a steroid to take during the infusion that will help boost the anti-nausea medicine. He is eating much better now, branching out a little at a time and he's doing great with the solid food. We just need him to feel well enough during the treatment week to eat more often so hopefully this will help. 

Chad started to really feel better as last week went on, he told me that he felt so well for so many days in a row that he started to get worried. We were both very happy and are hopeful that he has many more days like that. We were able to meet friends and family for dinner twice over the weekend and it was great! We laughed and hugged and laughed some more and it felt normal. We can't wait to do more! We were laughing too hard to get a photo with our friends on Saturday but I included the photo from Sunday when we were able to spend time with some of the cousins from Cleveland. Love you guys!
