Pound For Pound, The Best Fan
Good Evening!
Chad began the first infusion of his second cycle of the FOLFOX on Monday and he will finish tomorrow around noon. His week has had a much better start this time around and we are hopeful that it continues. One of the handful of small victories that we celebrated this week was a nice weight gain. Chad lost a significant amount of weight during his last infusion week and I was rather worried, but he was able to gain back what he lost with a bonus 2 pounds for good measure! The further removed from the disconnect that he gets the better that he feels so we are trying to indulge his cravings and let him eat as often and as much as he wants to on those good days and that has really helped.
Chad also had great lab work this week, all of his numbers were in good, healthy ranges and his oncologist is very pleased with how well he is doing. He gets to skip the lab and doctor visit and go straight to infusion when he goes back in two weeks. This is a big deal because it will shave close to to 3 hours off of our time there that day and he can go first thing in the morning which means he will disconnect first thing in the morning on day 3 so he will have the whole day ahead pump-free. Chad's oncologist wants him to have new CT Scans at the end of this cycle so that we can find out how well he is responding to treatment. We are hoping and praying for no further progression.
I think that some of the preventative measures that we've employed this week have made a difference. Chad says that the nausea is much better and I agree that he looks like he's feeling better. He ate during his infusion at the hospital and he has not done that yet. He didn't just eat a little either, he ate the lunch that he ordered and sent me on a cafeteria run twice and still had a nice sized dinner last night. The fatigue hasn't been an issue yet this week and that's great because Chad wanted to venture out for the first time while connected to his pump so we ran a few errands and it went very well. The fatigue has previously been an issue starting around day 3 so I'm watching for it but am very happy with where Chad is so far this week.
A lot of you sent me texts this week asking if that was really The Cleveland Browns that posted a message to Chad on this site and I'm thrilled to confirm that YES! , yes it was. Someone that loves Chad very much reached out to Chad's beloved Browns and let them know what he's going through and they were kind enough to reach out to him and show him their support. As you all can imagine it meant so much to Chad. He's kept his emotions in check throughout this journey but he was visibly touched by the gesture and I am so happy for him. The Browns are more than important to Chad, supporting that team is a way of life for him. He's recently had a lot of time spent waiting and during that time he found a website that posted past NFL game results. Chad was able to work through the previous 30+ seasons and figure out that he has gone to *at least 185 Browns games!! (* He aired on the side of caution when he was unsure and did not include pre-season games) Chad loves the Browns and now he knows that they love him too!! I included the photo of our wedding cake hoping that Chad's love of the Browns and cake will inspire him to send me on a bakery run. Pound for Pound, Chad Price is the best Brown's fan you'll ever meet.
Thank you for all of your continued love and support! Chad loves his cards and letters, you are all amazing!!
