2-23-24 Update

On being Chosen

Hard to believe but we are less 1 month away from the 5 year mark since this incredible journey began.

First, I want to give a shout out for The Chosen TV series. After the first 2-3 episodes, it really grows on you. I appreciate their efforts at recreating an accurate depiction of the place and time of Jesus’s ministry. And after getting to know the people who play the apostles, it hits home how they were plain folks watching outrageous miracles right before their eyes. Trying to understand why they were chosen to witness the otherworldly acts performed by Jesus that heal and transform peoples lives.

Next, Walker was chosen to be the Man of Honor at the wedding of his best friend, Christina Rumbaugh. The wedding was last Monday, the 19th, in a beautiful new facility with an outdoor chapel overlooking Lake Apopka near Clermont. Walker’s family was also invited to witness her marriage to David Barnes. And most importantly, we all witnessed a dedicated Christian couple who exemplify Gods grace towards each other and to all who attended; a holy matrimony indeed.

And by the grace of God, Walker was able bodied to attend to his MoH duties in fine fashion capping it off with a heartfelt toast to the bride and groom. It was a brilliant wedding and reception, I know Walker had a memorable time and so did his family. Being chosen by his childhood friend was an honor; he was very happy to be a part of their special day.

Thankfully, we were blessed this holiday season with many special days. All the McKnights were in good health and grateful for a busy, fun-filled holiday, the best in many years. And similar to the first witnesses of Christ, we have seen many miracles that compel us to understand the reality of being chosen. Chosen to experience an extraordinary emotional thrill ride. Our ride in life since 2019 is more intense than many but nonetheless, I believe, that every parent can relate on some level.

Other than a very tough day at Mayo Clinic last week where Walker had a standard procedure for lung transplant patients called a ‘bronch’ (flushing of the lungs), things did not go smoothly, he is doing pretty good on daily basis. Breathing capacity holding steady,  stamina good in short bursts, and appetite is strong. Please pray for Walkers protection from any viruses or germs and pray for his physical strength and emotional peace.

Each of us seeks answers to why we were chosen for something particular to us. Whether it is being married or single, to have children or not have children, to possess a great singular talent, to have a successful business or to have work trials. A truth that holds sway over the circumstances of our lives is that God chose us first to love before we chose him. May you hold on to that truth no matter the current events of your life.

In Christ name

Brother Dave
