Hi from Ben's Mom and Dad and Brother

Everyone's overwhelming love, prayers, generosity, support, and hopefulness, is so helping ease the pain of this unimaginable tragedy.  We are grateful.  Ben has had really good days the last 2 weeks considering the daily challenges he faces.  Although his eyesight is almost gone and he is having trouble with his speech, he is keeping great spirits and his resolve is strong.  He likes to start his mornings bright and early jumping on the trampoline and climbing the fireman pole up to the fort.  (He still has the tone to do this and he likes to dominate the strength challenges.)  He also likes to run in the street and ride his scooter before the morning traffic is on the roads...even though he can't really see.  All this before 7:30am.  Dad doesn't sleep as much as he used to.

On the way to school he likes to stop at Jus and get an Acai bowl.  His school at Mountain View Montessori (MVM) is the highlight of his day(from 10:30 to 12:15).  MVM has been amazing, keeping Ben in the flow.  He meets with Michele (and gets to bring Spike) who hangs with him and works with him, then he gets to have lunch with a couple of his classmates in a quiet setting (which is necessary due to his condition, because loud busy areas are difficult to process).  He is there for about 1.5 hours and every time we pick him up he is so happy!  Thank you everyone at MVM!  After school he likes to get on the tandem and go for a bike ride.  He told us the other day that he didn't want to let a season go by without skiing the chutes....we will figure out a way to get him up there!

On the weekends, he loves to hang with his older buddies who can tell stories, listen to Ben's stories, and play around the house with another set of eyes.  Some of his greatest smiles and most heartfelt laughs are during these times...so thankful for everyone's time.  Ben loves it, and it gives us a chance to catch up a bit.

With LOVE

Hello Katie and Matt, I just seen this for the first time. My heart breaks for your family and little Ben. I love your family. I have a special place in my heart for Ben since the day I met him in Sunday School. I believe strongly in the power of prayer, as I know you do as well. I know in my heart that God is with you and hears and answers our prayers. I will make a conscious effort to pray everyday for your family and Little Bens comfort and healing. Love you all, Mindy

This is Paulletta Lovett. Ben, your grandmother (Andi) is a wonderful friend of mine from back in nursing school. We lived together in an apartment before she married your grandpa. I got to be in their wedding. I have been watching you grow through Facebook. I am praying for all that you and your family needs as you march through this hard thing. When I see my 8 year old grandson, I remember you in prayer. God loves you! And your family so much!

Thank you for sharing this update! It’s great to hear that he’s jumping on the tramp and going to school. You are doing a great job being there for him and giving him the things he loves. I know it’s so hard, but your positivity is wonderful and so good for him.

Oh dear Matt, Katie, Luke and littke Ben, Thank you for somehow finding the time to write this and let us know how things are going. Our hearts break for all of you. You defined it well: an unimaginable tragedy. This world is so affected by evil, yet we know Jesus cares and hears and is with you every waking and sleeping moment. We pray often for you. I am so grateful God directed me to be there with all of you last Easter. I loved and so enjoyed each of your handsome, fun, delightful little boys. Jon and I will keep praying. The men’s group at our church are praying every Sat morning for you. We send our love to all. Polly and Jon
