"Waiting Ready"

"Waiting Ready" December 8, 2010, 5:40 AM

Steve posting this time...I want to start by offering my sincerest thanks to ALL of you who faithfully take the time to keep up with the latest developments in Lee's journey and continually offer your precious words of encouragement and ceaseless prayers on her behalf. I truly see her spirits lifted with each one of your notes that is shared.[...]

We Have Dates!

We Have Dates! December 2, 2010, 6:34 AM

Although the words "thank you for your prayers" do not seem to ring with the intensity that I would like to convey, I do not have better words. Jesus has heard all of our prayers and scheduling the myriad of scans went through without a glitch and everything was able to be scheduled!! Thank you for interceding on our behalf.[...]

Time Sensitive Prayer Request

Time Sensitive Prayer Request November 30, 2010, 9:21 AM

I spoke with the doctor’s office yesterday and was told I will definitely be scheduled and have the PET scan next week. The nuclear medicine staff got specifics needed (weight, height, reasons for the scan, etc.) yesterday that will facilitate the scheduling of the scan.[...]

Finally . . . .results

Finally . . . results November 7, 2010, 4:56 AM

The good news – I no longer have to keep my phone with me all the time! Five days of needing to be “attached” to my phone while waiting for the doctor to call was absolutely exhausting! Ha ha! I truly don’t know how some of you remain sane with no break from technology, instant communication, and no peace and quiet.[...]

Waiting . . . Waiting . . .

Waiting . . . Waiting . . . November 3, 2010, 1:36 AM

I apologize for bombarding you with posts. I struggle with not wanting to be a pest but also knowing when to post an update. Since we were expecting news on Monday, I decided I should send out an update tonight even though I have no news. After leaving a couple of messages with the doctor's office yesterday and today, I spoke with the answering service late this afternoon. The doctor, along with all of his staff, is ill and the entire office has been
closed yesterday and today. Since I wasn't listed as an actual appointment, I did not get called with this information. I promise to post when I hear something.[...]

Expecting News on Monday

Expecting News on Monday October 31, 2010, 8:03 AM

Many of you have been asking if we have gotten test results back so we thought now was a good time to update and ask for prayer. It has been a challenging couple of weeks waiting for results. I have had CT scans, repeat scans, lots of lab work, and then more lab work this past week. My doctor assured me on Friday that all test results would be in and that he would be calling me on Monday to discuss all of the results, hear from me the current status
of my symptoms (fever, night sweats, fatigue, weight loss, etc.), and discuss what the next steps should be.[...]

"Areas of Concern" October 13, 2010, 3:07 PM

First, Steve and I want to thank each of you for the overwhelming support we have felt from
your prayers, kind words, and encouraging messages. We are blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful friends! There are not adequate words to express how much your love, concern, care, and encouragement have buoyed us in these days of uncertainty.[...]

"His eye is on the Sparrow"

"His eye is on the Sparrow" October 7, 2010, 7:09 PM

I hope everyone enjoyed their spring and summer. We certainly did!! Steve and I decided to take a 3,000 mile motorcycle trip through six states. The trip was even more fun than I could have ever imagined. We rode on average 350 - 400 miles per day. Steve was so thoughtful to buy me a very, very nice seat and not one time did my butt hurt!! Over the course of almost two weeks, we visited many historic landmarks and enjoyed time at several National Parks including the Grand Tetons, Mt. Rushmore, and Yellowstone. We joined up with Steve's mom and dad halfway through the trip. They traveled west from Tennessee in their RV and then came back to Washington with us and stayed another week. Steve's brother was able to fly out for a long weekend. It was so nice to have his whole family together. We also were able to see my mom and dad and an aunt and uncle in early summer when their Alaskan cruise terminated in Vancouver, BC. Through our church, Mars Hill Olympia (www.marshillchurch.org), we began hosting and leading a Bible Study group (Community Group) in our home in June. The group has continued to grow and this past Tuesday night I sat in awe as 19 people gathered in our living room to fellowship, to study God's word, to pray, and to minister to others. We have been so blessed by this group of people that have become an integral part of our lives. We definitely had a blessed summer with family and friends.[...]

Hello from the Brooks!

Hello from the Brooks! April 15, 2010, 8:47 PM

I know, I know - I am so sorry it has been 3+ months since our last post. I promise one of us will always post should any urgent news transpire. Steve has had a real busy few months at the Fire District and frankly, I have been just dealing with overwhelming fatigue for the last few months and have been mostly homebound in bed. I am having trouble regulating my blood pressure and it is often so low it is hard to measure. The low blood pressure makes being up and around a little dicey as I have passed out a few times without much warning. We are working with the cardiologists at the UW and locally to try to make some headway.[...]
