The Great Escape!

In case you can’t see her in the picture because of the camouflage leggings or her attempts to hide behind the beautiful hibiscus plant that has nearly doubled in size while sitting in the window sill of Lee’s hospital room for the past four weeks, that is indeed her making the great escape on Friday afternoon.  While we would have preferred to have the nausea and vomiting completely resolved before she left the hospital, Lee managed to convince her doctors that continuing to battle those challenges would be less traumatic if she could do so curled up inn her own bed and PJs.  Thanks to all of you who were praying for Lee to reach this huge milestone!

We arrived home to find three large boxes of supplies that had already been delivered by home health, so we got those unloaded and attempted to identify, understand, and organize them.  Lee’s mom and I know, however, that it will be a good sign of Lee’s recovery when she decides to reorganize everything we’ve done!  We successfully navigated the first launch of her IV nutrition infusion overnight and will be working through the learning process for dressing changes and wound care over the weekend.  Your continued prayers for Lee’s safety and our wisdom in these processes is GREATLY appreciated!

While we work through this transition phase, my/our updates may come with a bit less frequency or regularity, but I promise to keep everyone updated as there are noteworthy changes to report.  Lee has two follow up doctor appointments in the week ahead, so you can also be praying for her strength and stamina to improve as she tries to get some much needed rest over the next few days.  So far, her nausea and vomiting have been no worse but also not much better since making it home. We are hopeful both will begin to resolve as her system continues to adjust to all the changes in her nutrition and medication regimen.

Once again, thanks beyond words for your prayers and support!

Steve

I pray that the nausea will pass. I pray that Lee can enjoy and relax and rest in her home. I pray that Steve and Lee's mom grow confident in handling the medical equipment. May all gain rest and comfort.

So glad you all are home! That, in itself, should be some “good medicine” for Lee. I continue to pray! Love and hugs for all!
