Travel Date

This morning we learned that we have been assigned a court date in India! Two weeks from today, on April 8, we will appear before a judge with Kira in our arms! There are not enough emojis and exclamation points in the world to describe how we feel right now. Although some gifs my family shared at hearing the news come close. :)

We will travel a couple days before court and return home a few days after. Kira is in a 2-visit state, so after court we will return home while they prepare additional documents. We will get a second notification when it’s all prepared and we can make our second trip to bring Kira home.

Today I said to my dear friend and mentor that my thoughts are swirling around “Is this really happening??!!” At which she quoted back to me part of what she shared for devotions at my shower this weekend - Psalm 126:1, the people of Israel see the promises of God fulfilled and they say “we were like those who dreamed.” Yes! We are seeing God peel back the layers of his plan and timing and it feels like a dream! It will always amaze me how there isn’t an situation or experience that God’s Word doesn’t describe. God has met us through every step, and the fulfillment of his faithfulness to us moves our “mouths to be filled with laughter, and our tongues with songs of joy.” (Psalm 126:2)

Ways to pray:

  • Thank God with us for sustaining us through every waiting period, and pray that we would be patient with the next steps, trusting in his timing.
  • Pray that the judge would be expedient and favorable to us.
  • That we would be attentive during our first meetings with Kira to better prepare for the second trip and to prepare our home for her.

Psalm 126

A song of ascents.

When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion,
we were like those who dreamed.

Our mouths were filled with laughter,
our tongues with songs of joy.

Then it was said among the nations,
“The Lord has done great things for them.”

The Lord has done great things for us,
and we are filled with joy.

Restore our fortunes, Lord,
like streams in the Negev.

Those who sow with tears
will reap with songs of joy.

Those who go out weeping,
carrying seed to sow,

will return with songs of joy,
carrying sheaves with them.
