Panic Packing and False Alarm

After no movement or news for months, we got word on Friday of a potential virtual court appearance and immanent and quick travel to follow. On Monday morning, however, we learned that this was false and we do not have a schedule court appearance yet. This was a bit of whiplash, because with the initial notice of court we also learned that Telangana (Evelyn's state) is now asking parents to appear for the passport appointment, which the last family was asked to appear for just two weeks after their court appearance! So we went from Friday believing we could be traveling by the end of the month back to no news. Hopefully, this at least means we are on their radar and will be hearing of a true appointment very soon.

The notice gave us a shot of adrenaline and by Saturday Kira had moved into a new room, I had an Amazon order on the way and was filling online orders for Target and Walmart. We pulled down the small clothes we had saved, pulled out all our suitcases and acquired a few more. While we are disappointed that this is not the day, we feel like we will be much more prepared when our day really comes! 

We are planning to bring Kira with us, as Evelyn is in the same city and orphanage as Kira was. The news of possible travel has led to some funny conversations. I've been reminding Kira that in India she can't drink the water in the shower and needs to obey right away if I tell her not to eat something. Tonight's dinner conversation was about wild animal etiquette - dogs are not pets and do not hold anything out toward a monkey. Kira is very excited to be a big sister, but I have to say I am nervous about traveling that far with her and keeping her safe and healthy.
