Love and Belief
As we now face AML, Cindy and I are about to mark our 40th anniversary on February 16 (2019). I think I speak for her when I express that we would desire to leave two primary impressions with anyone who crosses our path along the way of life: 1) Our love for each other and 2) Our love for Jesus Christ.
Not necessarily in that order but, eventually, both of those even if you don’t/can’t fix on what loving Jesus means. For us, it's so many, many things, ways, how we experience life....
- praying together many times a day and ending each day reading Our Daily Bread (devotional) together and a back rub….
- sharing favorite verses
- Countless discussions about what God is “saying” to each of us at any given moment
- sorting out what we think God is trying to teach us through a circumstance, blessing or trial that just popped up
- Us tag-team speaking with someone else about how we see God swooping into their moment, maybe in a way that they don’t even realize it’s him
- Standing in awe in front of a towering, snow-capped mountain, lazy stream, snow-covered trail in a pine wood, the sun setting once again into Lake Michigan..., appreciating together how God loves to reveal himself in his grand creation, in nature
- Music, music, music! So many songs speak into our lives, that when we play them, we are on the same page together. I play, she sings, we both listen. We always have music playing at home or in our cars. God definitely uses to music and musical worship to infuse us with himself. And as far as we know, Jesus wasn't even musical. Go figure.
- Reading/hearing about the latest terrorist attack, mass shooting, natural disaster or the horrible fires in California that literally shouts the truth of God’s word - how sin has broken humanity and earth itself but that he redeems now and will one day make all things new forever
Faith is our life, the element we agree is the best and fortifies/sustains the essence of us. We see everything through the eyes of our faith, rooted in Jesus Christ.
Faith itself is meaningless unless it’s rooted in a Someone who makes all things work, no matter how bad things are/seem. That Someone behind OUR faith is Jesus Christ. Cindy and I wholeheartedly agree about this and we strive to live it every day, every moment.
We pray you see that in us even it seems odd, even crazy and nonsensical to you. We hope we live like we’re sold out to this particular craziness. If that comes across, "the crazy Trevisans," you will make our pastor and our vast family of faith laugh out loud and high five each other!
And yes, in faith, we together take it on Cindy’s AML, in Christ. Practically, our “faith lenses” may lead us to make decisions that may seem not in our/Cindy’s best interests, rationally. We’ve already faced some of that early on in this cancer journey. Reason may insist we do something one way but God, our faith assures us another way is best. Trust us on this.
I’m not going to quote any scriptures here but I’ve already referenced a small multitude. Maybe commenters to this post will do some of that.

You and Cindy are warriors more so than I've ever seen. Your faith and commitment to the Lord and each other has endured and shows in every journey you endeavor. Our prayers are not only for Cindy but for you also. You two have been through so much in the last several years. You will get through this too. Love you both!!!
Respectfully received from one who is also an inspiration to us - a fellow warrior, survivor of many trials.
Amen! ❤️
God is love, and all who live in love, live in God. You have shared God's love with each other, with me, with so many friends and family throughout your married life. You live in His love, you share that love, and you are both a blessing to all of us. We are with you on this faith journey, no matter where or how it leads us. God is for you; we are with you. <3
Well said, Kathleen.
Cindy, Glenn, Todd would like to follow you on this site. Could you send him the info to do so? He's also thinking o doing a site called Flat Cindy....Shades of flat stanley. Comfort today, french
Not familiar with Flat Stanley. I must be out of it.
I'm sure Cindy knows who Flat Stanley is...a staple of first grade : ) Grateful that you are willing to share your journey with all of us who care so much about Cindy, you, Adam, Laura and Michael. Deb shared the site with me this morning so I am catching up, though I was at Grace when Glenn's first call came in to Doug last Tuesday (have been praying ever since)...can it only have been a week? Love you all.
Flat Stanley - something else Cindy can bring me up to speed on. Regarding sharing our journey, you know how that goes with we who belong to the Lord...."19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." (1st Corinthians 6:19-21) And so we share ourselves with each other and others to extend the kingdom and God's grace working through us. Right?
What an encouragement you are to others during this painful trial! I thank God for your faith and your testimony - TO GOD BE THE GLORY!! In Prayer, Karen Fisher
