Nearing the end of week 1 of consolidation, Cindy is feeling well and her final chemo infusion has been moved up five hours to begin at 10 a,m. today (3/29) so the second half of this round will begin at 10 p.m. tonight. This means, if her Saturday morning blood work is good, she will be discharged to home tomorrow - March 30.[...]
Cindy’s consolidation chemotherapy this week involves receiving “high dose” cytarabine, also known as AraC.
What does high dose mean? Good question.[...]
After a glorious month at home recuperating from induction therapy, Cindy is back at the hospital today for her first week of consolidation chemotherapy with one to three additional such weeks to look forward to.[...]
We met with Cindy’s oncologist, Dr. J today (3/15) who reported that Cindy’s latest March 7 biopsy is good, excellent in fact, confirming that her remission is solid with no cancer in the bone marrow or no cancerous blast cells in the bloodstream.[...]
The latest biopsy (#3) is behind Cindy so now we wait until we meet with the doctor next week (3/15) to discuss results and next steps.
Cindy’s feeling so much better and better each day that the idea of going back into the hospital for the week-long round of consolidation chemotherapy is more than a bit daunting. I am with her on that but together we trust in God to direct the path ahead and guide us through to the future he has for us.[...]
Cindy is scheduled for biopsy #3 this Thursday, March 7 because biopsy #2 (on 2/19) that indicated she was in remission included some cells her team thinks are innocent, immature cells. But, just to be absolutely sure….[...]
