A Diagnosis

During Eric's surgery a few weeks ago, the majority of his tumor was removed; however, a few areas of concern were not removed. We've been waiting for what feels like a lifetime and yesterday Eric and J were able to meet with the University of Utah Oncology team. They were able to confirm that Eric's tumor diagnosis is in fact a Glioblastoma Wild Type. This type of tumor is a malignant, very aggressive, brain tumor. With their Oncology team, Eric and J discussed a number of treatment options. But, before any final treatment decisions are made, we'll allow Eric time to heal from surgery.

Last night, Eric experienced a setback and has been admitted to St. Pete's hospital in Helena where they are managing his symptoms and pain. His signature humor is slowly returning and they are hoping to be discharged by tomorrow morning.

In Johnanna's words "we're in for a battle, a wild ride, a laser sword fight, a jeep ride on a Montana backroad."

It's impossible to express our gratitude to everyone who continues to support Eric! The meals, financial contributions, prayers, and hilarious stories on his NewlyWords site help so much! As Eric and J make decisions on upcoming treatment plans we'll be sure to share. For now, we'll continue to focus on healing for Eric.

Thanks for the update, Julie. I know the words seem trite, but they are true: “If there is anything we can do...”

I am going to be totally honest here so please stop here if want. I had to take some time before commenting to wipe away tears and harness my anger and profanities. You see, I am angry that something like this cancer could happen to such a great person like you, Eric and to J and to your families and friends. I pray and I pray and I pray. I know the battle, wild ride, laser sword fight and Jeep ride on a Montana backroad could not be executed by a better couple than Eric and J. And I am supporting you all the way! I have no doubt that you will be successful. But right now, I am weak and teary eyed and I love you both so much for all the good that you are. May the odds be ever in your favor! May God bless you and shine his light upon you. May the powers of healing overtake you and keep you free from symptoms and pain. May you live as you wish with the hopes and promises of tomorrow. May you know the blessings of faith, hope and love. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
