Looking Forward
It seems weird to write this, but things in SLC seem to be going relatively smooth. Eric continues to have radiation treatments Monday through Friday and takes chemo every day. His body seems to be tolerating treatment as well as can be expected. It seems as if his side effects are minimal at this point in time and well managed. His lab work seems to be reacting the way his care team thought it would. So, things seem to be going well.
Eric has several care team appointments next week to assess his health and adjust treatments if needed.
We are both managing to stay busy and squeeze in every bit of fun during this journey that we can. Eric continues to be able to uphold the 1 radiation treatment: 1 adventure ratio. So far we have played on the Bonneville Salt Flats (no land-speed records were set); hiked in the snow at Mirror Lake (Shelby's happy place includes snow); Jeeped several Utah back roads; watched a climber set the new World Record in Speed Climbing at the IFSC World Cup competition; and many, many more local hikes/walks.
We also had a visit from Jodie and her family. What fun it was to hang out with Jodie, Sean, and their 4 year old son, Caden while exploring Salt Lake City as well as the Great Salt Lake. It felt so good to be surrounded by such loving friends. And as an added bonus, Caden kept things entertaining. Through the eyes of children!
We continue to look forward to our return trip home. How nice it will be to be surrounded by family and friends in our hometown. Between now and then, we are both looking forward to joining a couple of trail runs in the next few weeks. We are also both looking forward to another round of family visits. Julie, Eric's youngest sister, will be here next week. The week after, Emily's Family as well as Eric's parents will be here to share with us a little of the infamous Sullivan family chaos. We continue to look forward to our daily adventures and discovering more parts of Utah.
We continue to appreciate all of the support, cards, gifts, prayers, love and unexpected kindness that everyone has shown us.
Cheers to looking forward!
