6 Months!
Eric and I are celebrating an incredible milestone....he just reached the 6 month mark from diagnosis! What a crazy 6 months it has been!
We were able to celebrate the 6 month mark with another adventure! One we have never done before! A friend gifted us their reservation at Granite Butte Lookout Tower.....a refurbished forest surface fire tower. Originally built in the late 1930's, it's now available as a rental to allow those of us who wish, a really unique outdoor get-a-way. Sitting high up on the continental divide, we experience big Montana views, a couple of beautiful fall CDT section hikes, an awe-inspiring sunset, a peaceful evening, spectacular stars, and a truly special sunrise. We were even able to watch one of the bigger Montana fires billow smoke from afar.
While the 6 months hasn't always been as wonderful as this past weekend, we continue to use humor and positive thinking to push past the hurdles and obstacles thrown our way.
The most recent medical updates show some cause for concern regarding "size progression". There currently isn't a great way to identify this size difference as either tumor growth or inflammation/treatment effect. Eric's care team is concerned that it could be tumor growth from the smallest tumor that wasn't able to be resected in April.
So, after a lot of thought, processing, and consideration of options, Eric has decided to become part of another clinical trial. This one diagnostic in nature. Researchers at Huntsman in Salt Lake City are exploring PET scans with a couple of "new" radioactive tracers. While these tracers aren't new to the PET scan community and have been used for several years in other cancers, they are new to being used with glioblastoma imaging. The hope is that these tracers may be able to give us some additional insight into the tumor progression vs treatment effect debate and that may provide us with additional information moving forward.
In a couple of weeks, we will head to Salt Lake City for a barrage of medical appointments, multiple diagnostic tests, and hopefully some answers!

We hope that Eric's clinical trials illuminate the question (growth vs inflammation) and provide details to help move things forward. Beautiful photo and experience and may many more follow.
