Footprints in the Sand
Bill brought Gracie's guitar in this morning so they could put it in Gracie's lap with her fingers on the strings. Oh, how she's trying!
I also wanted to share a poem that speaks to Gracie's condition, and to my heart... many of you know it...
Footprints in the Sand
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.
This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.
So I said to the Lord,
"You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one
set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?"
The Lord replied,
"The times when you have
seen only one set of footprints,
is when I carried you."
Love, Debbie

Good thoughts in this poem and nice visual of Gracie with the guitar come to help with the healing. Thank you.
And we hope you are comforted by the knowledge that you are also being lifted up in prayer by so many who love your family dearly. The Hessicks' prayer for you today: "I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry...he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand." Psalm 40:1-2
One of my favorites Debbie. Love hearing your stories. My prayers keep coming for you!

I have read this poem a number of times through their years. I hope it gives all the Fishers encouragement as it did me. Continuing prayers and positive thoughts.
Debbie - You, Gracie, Bill and Emily are in my prayers daily - Oh how I wish I was there in Santa Barbara! My heart aches for you my friend - I want to take your pain away - I continue to pray and pray for God to heal Gracie completely - this morning I read this passage and wanted to share it with you. Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits - who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. (Psalm 103:1-5) Yesterday morning as John and I were walking the dog we looked up in the sky and saw a bird - at first we thought it was a seagull but then we realized it was a bald eagle......I have never seen a bald eagle in Atlantic Beach.....and it was only 15 feet or so above our heads soaring free and strong - we thought this has got to be some sort of sign for something.....it was a God moment.....Gracie is going to soar again - that I know for sure! And her youth will be renewed - I continue to visualize her playing her guitar and singing softly along - I am listening to my praise music and singing loud and strong for Grace! The Hortons love you guys and will continue to pray for God's strength, hope and light to guide you all through this journey. xoxoxo Joie

A wise doctor said, 'The best medicine for humans is CARE and LOVE." Someone asked, 'What if it doesn't work?' He smiled and answered, 'Increase the dose.'
Debbie, I love that poem. It's reassurance that you're never alone and much more. You and your family are obviously not alone because you have so many people praying for you all and sending their love. We will continue to pray and have faith that the new year will bring hope, healing, strength, continued support and guidance for the medical team caring for Gracie. I know the whole family is feeling this so Blessings, Solace and Light to All of you through this. Martin Family

That is a wonderful poem. We are praying for your whole family and hoping for a speedy recovery for Grace. Love to think about her holding a guitar or a keyboard and playing music again. She is a strong, smart, creative, and beautiful girl with a great and supportive network of family and friends. I am so glad to know her and to know your family.
