The First Day (and some other important updates)

Yesterday was harder than I thought it would be with all of the travel, commotion, settling in, and working with all of Gracie's new staff, but it was the first night in five and a half weeks that I got more than five hours of sleep, so I was feeling ready for this new day. Gracie also had a rough night last night, but is more comfortable now.

She has a spacious room that she wants to fill with hearts! She'd love a card from you!

As part of the admittance process, all new patients are screened for DVTs (deep vein thrombosis), which is a clotting of veins, typically in the legs, but can occur in arms as well, so Gracie spent part of the morning doing a Doppler ultrasound of her legs and arms. The balance of the day was pretty busy. The staff here are great. They will be carrying out assessments over the next several days as they determine the best path for Gracie's rehabilitation.

Here is a photo Bill took earlier today... I agree!

Bill has been in contact with a number of old Westlake High School friends who live out in the Denver area (it's been wonderful to have the support). Jeffra was taking Emily and I around to a few high schools to see where she might want to attend. Bill also connected with a couple other friends in the Denver area who will be able to help out.

Thanks for all your continued prayers and support!

Debbie and Bill

A few updates / reminders / info:

If you missed it last time and want to send a heart, card, or letter, Gracie's address at Craig is:

Craig Hospital
c/o Grace Fisher
3425 South Clarkson St.
Englewood, CO 80113

This SATURDAY there is an impromptu fundraiser that Jenny Schatzle, a local trainer in SB, has started. At 10:00am, she is doing a free workout that is open to everyone. She is making it a BRING A DONATION for GRACE FISHER. It will be a 45 minute all-level workout, and she's asking people to bring $1, $5, $100, or whatever you can. Whole Foods, Pressed Juice, Santa Barbara Bars, and Rori's Ice Cream are also coming out. They will be meeting in the De La Guerra Plaza behind Lululemon Athletica in Santa Barbara (map link: https://goo.gl/maps/z9YLe).

On SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 15 from 6pm to 9pm, there will be a Concert For Gracie at The Blind Tiger, 409 State Street. Hector Hurtado and Roger Perry are coordinating the concert, which will feature several local bands (Brandi & Jami, The Branbles, Monkey House, Bad Jack, and others) as well as groups who know Gracie or that she's been involved with. It's open to all ages, and should be a great evening. All donations will go directly to the Graceie Fisher Fund. You can download a flyer here: http://helpgracie.corr.org/concert4gracie.pdf.
