The Name of the Game is Endurance
The name of the game is endurance. Two weeks ago talking and eating were new to Gracie. She now has been able to cease tube feeding and has gained back 7 pounds. She has about 7 more to go to be back to normal for her. She is also talking more with her trach cuff deflated. Sometimes she will go several hours at a time. It is great to hear her voice and listen to her opine on all things "Bachelor". She also admitted to me that she misses SBHS and being tuned in to what her friends are doing.
Her overall comfort levels are improving and she is depending less on medication for sleep and pain. She is fighting tough to participate in her therapies. I have never witnessed a process is that is more physically, mentally and emotionally taxing than what Grace has confronted during this ordeal. I am grateful that she has remained determined and still fighting hard. We are all grateful for the love and support from people back home and many people literally all over the world pulling for Gracie.
Gracie loves when we read her the cards. Gracie's room looks great and Craig staff always comment that they have never seen a room so well festooned with cards and hearts.. The comment I hear over and over is: "Wow! There must be lots of people that love you!" When I hear that it makes me think of how wonderful humanity can be, and how incredible Gracie is that she has inspired so many.
Here is a video of Gracie on a FES (functional electrical stimulation) bicycle, which stimulates her leg muscles and gives her real aerobic exercise:
I can't believe tomorrow will be five weeks. While is was a slow start, Gracie is working hard and making progress. We don't have a departure date from Craig yet, but Debbie's boss and fellow coworkers stepped up to the plate to make sure we don't come home to a loads of weeks, thanks guys!

Thank you to all who have been supporting us with your prayers, cards, emails, and financial support.
Bill
