honesty & waiting...

Evelyn's blood count and plasma go down too low basically everyday, and they are having to do many blood transfusions to keep them at a safe level. We held off on the "announcement" of the diagnosis Evelyn received of Multiple Myeloma, because at the time Evelyn hadn't been told, and they waited to tell her until she could talk and ask questions. Evelyn's friends are like her family, she cares for you and spends so much time with many of you, that I feel her friends deserve to know too. Also, Ev would tell several of you in a heartbeat herself if she could.

I don't know why when a diagnosis is cancer, people start getting a little secretive... or a little silent. In my mind, Evelyn is going to need the cheerleading, prayers and loving support from her friends and family - that cancer demands.

Evelyn is a 'turn the other cheek', 'keep a stiff upper lip' type of woman. The last thing she will want is her friends and family to treat her any differently, or to feel any type of sorry or pity. She is a FIGHTER. She is going to FIGHT this. We are going to help her FIGHT this. She doesn't need our sadness. She needs our strength.

We will help her move mountains.

We will keep her fighting and keep her floating.

The doctors at the San Diego Hospital would like to move Evelyn to their specialty Cancer Centre Hospital, and start treatment for her multiple myeloma, because that is the root of the other problems; it is keeping her from healing from the staph infection as quickly as they would have liked.

Nothing has been decided yet. Our gut instinct is we want her home before they start that treatment. She needs to be around the ones who love her.

We are on the phones... a lot! To the hospital here, to insurance, to San Diego and most importantly to Evie.

We are fighting hard to get her home.

The Doctor in San Diego called KGH yesterday to change her status on the wait list to more urgent (as I understand it). Because of her needing the cancer to be the focus of treatment now, it changes her status. They initially thought there was no rush on treating the cancer.

Please send all the prayers, love and/or support you have the time for.

Thank-you all for reading.
