Jesse slept a lot after breakfast, and had real food for lunch for the first time in a week. He sat on the side of the bed and ate some baked chicken' mashed potatoes, and green beans - just a little, but at least it was not broth!
Unfortunately, the afternoon brought a turn for the worse. After being lucid and communicative for the past two days he became confused again. He knew his name but could not answer subsequent questions properly. A blood gas test showed that his co2 levels had risen to 114, well above the acceptable range. He is currently back on the bi-pap machine and we are hoping this will stabilize the numbers. There has been some improvement but there are a lot of questions and considerations ahead.
The family will be meeting with the doctor tomorrow to discuss options. Please keep Jesse and our family in your prayers as we ask some difficult questions and face some potentially hard choices in the near future.
