9 Months and Counting
June 5 will mark 9 months since Joe's stem cell transplant and he's doing marvelous! All his cancer marker numbers are excellent with no signs of any cancer at this point. Everything remains in remission!
So, what has he been up to? As you can see from the pictures, fishing has been on the agenda. Mom and Dad along with their good friends, Ed and Lorie, recently went to Branson and fished on Lake Taneycomo. They had a great time and "report" they caught several fish. For anyone who knows Dad, you know how much he loves fishing.
He's also been helping out at the shop, Hood's Automotive & Towing, as much as possible and spending time out in the community meeting new and existing customers. He was at the shop on Saturday, and worked on trying to reset some monitors on a car for an emission inspection. He walks in the office in his white Hood's "uniform" shirt (as you may recall, we got him white shirts so he wouldn't try to do too much in the shop since he can't lift more than 25 lbs). He had literally been at the shop for no more than 30 minutes and I turned to look at him and he had grease all over his arm and on his clean white shirt. I said to him "hey, you have grease on you" and his response was, "oh, I do" and had the biggest grin on his face!!
Now that he's "retired" Mom has been making him lots of honey-do lists and he's getting those accomplished. Mom reports she didn't know how she got all these things done at home when he was working so much.
We're planning to go back to Branson the 2nd week of July - Mom and Dad, with his granddaughter Courtney and her family - yes including the much coveted great grandson, John, and myself and my husband. We've got a condo and a boat rented for two days. Dad's already going through his fishing things to get ready and it's more than a month away!
I think by the end of the summer, they are planning a trip to San Antonio as well.
So, the story remains the same - boring! We've come to love boring!! His numbers look great and we can't ask for much more than that!
Thank you for all your continued prayers and keep them coming!! We certainly can't let our guard down.
