June 5 will mark 9 months since Joe's stem cell transplant and he's doing marvelous! All his cancer marker numbers are excellent with no signs of any cancer at this point. Everything remains in remission! [...]
Joe is doing really well! All his cancer numbers are very good (no active cancer present at this time). He goes to the Cancer Center twice a month for a maintenance shot. Those are not the greatest and he doesn't feel well for a couple of days, but by day 3 he's doing much better. He still struggles with some stomach upset from time-to-time and pretty constant neuropathy in his feet (and his maintenance shot makes that worse). [...]
We have so much to be thankful for this past Christmas season. Of course, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ is at the top of the list. But He's closely followed by Joe! As you know, he got the call just before Christmas that he was in complete remission. He's doing very well and continuing to gain strength. He had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends. He was the guest of honor at Hood's Automotive & Towing annual Christmas-Eve luncheon where he was able to visit with so many good friends and customers. They kept coming until 5 pm! [...]
Joe got the call today from the doctor that he's in REMISSION - No signs of Myeloma in his bone marrow!! Just the Christmas present we've all been praying for![...]
So close to success we can taste it!!!
Today is Day 100 - Graduation Day from his Stem Cell Transplant! He had a very good appointment on Friday with the doctor. She's very pleased with his progress and at this point, he DOES NOT have to return to Siteman Cancer Center. Following his appointment with the doctor, he had his bone marrow biopsy - which is the real proof of whether this all worked. But all his blood numbers are excellent, vitals are good and best of all, he's feeling pretty good. We should have results of the bone marrow biopsy before Christmas. [...]
Well, no picture this week. Last week he did come down with a cold at the beginning of the week that turned into bronchitis by the end of the week. Mom managed to haul him reluctantly into the doctor by Friday and after a negative chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia, they settled on a diagnosis of bronchitis and a healthy dose of antibiotics. Thank goodness for Mom or by Monday it likely would have been pneumonia. Of course, all those antibiotics have created some nausea and other fun stuff. But he does seem to be feeling better and not coughing as much. In the next week he should be going back to Siteman Cancer Center for his bone marrow biopsy and then about a week later we should find out if all this worked!! [...]
This Thanksgiving was extra special! Joe is continuing to do very well. Vitals are all good and he continues to get stronger. [...]
Joe continues to do very well. Vitals are all good and he's continuing to get stronger. He's really starting to sound more like himself when I talk to him on the phone. He's staying busy with all those garage projects (of course) - yes, there are heaters in the garage![...]
He's doing great! Another week of not much to report!! Vitals are good and steady and he's continuing to exercise with his walks and getting stronger. [...]
