GQ Joe

Sporting his new hat (and a lovely green industrial strength face mask to keep germs out), Joe walked into the doctors office, sat among other patients, and had a very good check-up with the doctor.  We saw his regular primary care doctor today for a non-cancer check-up.

His vitals were all good, blood sugars have been staying in acceptable ranges (no need for any extra meds), gained two pounds since he left the hospital (total weight loss from the stem cell transplant was 17lbs).  Doc was not concerned about his blood pressure (which has been running a little low for him (90s/60s) but still a good blood pressure and not consistently lower so his blood pressure meds became "as needed" for now!

Overall, doc thinks he looks great, weathered this storm very well, and is on the road to recovery.  Just to make sure he's staying on track, he goes to see the specialist at Wash U on Monday, sees his regular oncologist at the end of the month, then back to the primary care the beginning of November to make sure blood sugars and blood pressure are behaving.

Yesterday and today, he's been feeling a little better than Monday and Tuesday.  Walking around the house, taking the trash out, eating a little better, limited nausea.  Feet are doing a little better and he's been able to sleep at night.  Some of that is "better living through chemistry" as he would say.  But it still counts!

We're almost at day 30 when he should wake up and think "hey, I feel much better today".  Stay tuned!

Thanks for your continued prayers!

I can't believe how far you have come in just a short time! Your journey through this reminds me of the Wizard of Oz, where Dorothy (aka you) has to go through the haunted forest to get to the Emerald City. Unfortunately, that wicked witch (MM) keeps trying to get in your way. Just remember, "there's no place like home" Love ya!
