Day 30!
Things we've learned -- McDonald's is not a good idea! Although he's had a little bit of a rough week with lots of "side effects", on Day 29, he decided to have McDonalds for dinner. As a result, Day 30 which had been touted as "the day you wake up and think...man, I feel better today" didn't happen. As if that burger was Chemo, Joe was up all night and then most of the day today in the restroom :( Not even lunch today stayed around for very long.
Having said that, he was in pretty good spirits. Felt fatigued (probably because he was unable to keep any kind of proteins in his system for more than 5 minutes), but vitals were good. Overall, he continues good progress.
Some may say this would be a dream - wife waiting on him hand and foot, every family member constantly checking on him, laying in his easy chair with a remote and simply relaxing 24/7. Anyone that know Joe, this is a little more like a nightmare, but he's doing as General Nancy says and resting. Getting his walks, even if it means running to the restroom!
I was unable to get up to see Dad today for Day 30, so asked him to take a picture, to smile pretty and pose for "us". He said he'd fix his hair for me. An hour later, these were the pictures I got from Mom. She told me to pick one. I was unable to do so, so I posted all three. That will teach them! He obviously is in good spirits and plugging away.
Here's hoping that Day 31 brings the "man, I feel much better today" day!
God Bless!
