Day 50 - We're Half Way There!
Saturday was Day 50 out of his 100 day journey! He's half way there until we find out if the stem cell transplant worked. Joe's been doing very well. Vitals have been good and he's been resting well. Still some neuropathy pain in his feet, but overall continuing to grain strength.
Saturday was also the day I went to help him clean up the garage! We had a good long 10 hour day complete with Nanny and Baby John in toe. With Dad mostly supervising, we pulled almost everything out of the garage, cleaned and re-arranged everything. They can almost get two cars in the garage now! And that was the goal - to be able to get at least Mom's car in the garage. We had a pick-up truck full that went to the garbage. The table saw is now in the back of the garage, all the yard items are now in the shed, Jeff's tool box is up against the wall, all the camping/fishing items are together on one shelf, and all his tools/tool cases are lined up on the shelves. Joe is left with a LOT of projects. He needs to go through all his fishing/camping things and figure out what is good/what is not, what he wants to keep, give to other family members, etc. He will also get to go through 6 "compartments" in the shelving unit with various projects - from going through all his CDs, to fixing a drawer for Andy's bed, to going through some various "stuff" that came out of his desk at work, to tools, tools, tools, and did I mention tools? He must have 10 different portable toolboxes/tool trays that have various tools in them. "Oh, I took those things to Chris' to fix XYZ." and there are 10 things in that travel tool case. We're going to bring his small tool chest from the shop home so he can go through, figure out what he has, and really organize them so he knows where to find everything.
Day 51, Sunday - today, he's tired. We worked hard yesterday to get everything done.
In other exciting news, he's started driving a bit. Short trips where he doesn't have to get out of the car, but in the two trips he's had so far, they've gone well.
Tomorrow is his appointment with his regular oncologist. We haven't seen him since before the stem cell transplant. Excited to see what he has to say.
Thanks for your continued prayers!
God Bless!
