Day 65 - All is Well!

Joe continues very good progress.  I'm happy to report there is nothing to report!  His vitals are good.  He doesn't have any upcoming doctor appointments for the next 30 days and doesn't have to go back to see his primary care doctor until January.  He's continuing to get stronger, walking, resting, napping, and piddling.  [...]

Tackling Garage Projects

Joe continues to do very well.  Slowly but surely, he's getting there.  He's tackled a couple of small projects in the garage.  He's taking walks.  He does report that his back gets pretty sore after walking a fairly short distance and he needs to sit and rest.  The cold weather has provided chills and at times he struggles to stay warm.  But overall, he's in great shape!  All vitals continue to be very good.   [...]

Day 52 - And a Doctor Appointment

All good news!  Joe saw his regular oncologist today and got a very good check-up.  No major blood draws - too early for that.  But did get a shot to strengthen his bones.  Good vitals and the doctor was very impressed with how well he is doing.  We did talk to the doctor about his back pain and he suggested he go back to see the pain specialist just to get his opinion.[...]

Day 45

Joe's been doing pretty well.  Overall, has been energetic and feeling good.  Taking walks inside and outside the house.  He has noticed his back starts to hurt pretty quickly, but after a fairly short rest, he can get back up and walk some more.  Vitals have been pretty good, but blood pressure has started to go back up a bit so he's back on his meds there.  Nothing new, we were just hopeful the blood pressure would stay down enough that he wouldn't have to start his meds again.  [...]

Joe's 72...or is it 41 - Happy Birthday!

Chronologically Joe turns 72 today!  However, his baby immune system is at Day 41.  Happy Birthday!!

To celebrate both occasions, Joe dined at Elephant Bar in West County with General Nancy, Courtney, great grandson John, and me.  His first trip out in public since his transplant!  Armed with his hat and hand sanitizer, he had some wonderful Orange Chicken and ate the entire meal.  [...]

Doing Better

In our last update, Joe was about to eat seafood.  Well, it went very good.  No problems :)  He's felt pretty good since Sunday with limited nausea and other side effects.   Overall, he's feeling much better and vitals are good.  [...]

Looking Good, but Not Feeling Great

Although I'd have to say he looks like a million bucks, he's had a rough 24 hours.  Lots of nausea and other side effects and very fatigued.  I'm sure the doctors would say this is completely expected, but that doesn't make it any easier.  Vitals have been good and overall he's continuing forward progress.  He's very anxious to have his taste buds to be returning faster than they are.  They are a little better but not really having too many cravings or tastes for anything specific.[...]

Gettin Better Every Day!

A visit from Great Grandson, John, (and his parents) always put a smile on Joe's face!

Joe continues to do very well.  A little nausea here and there, especially in the evenings, but vitals have been steady and he continues his walks.  He's doing about 4 to 5 laps a day.  His goal is to get to 10 laps a day.  Walking in the house is a little easier than walking outside because of the terrain but his back does start to hurt after a couple of laps.  [...]

It's Finally Here!

Reports say Joe woke up today and thought to himself, "self, I feel much better today!"   That day has finally come!  No nausea, no frequent trips to the restroom, had a pretty good energy level all day and vitals were good.  A few walking trips around the house and he was good to go.  [...]
