No Place like Home

After another 2 weeks in the hospital Jed is back home again! Sadly Jed has figured that in the last 90 days, half of those days were spent in the hospital, a reality that was not too thrilling for him. Nevertheless the days we get at home together are that much sweeter.

We have two wonderful blessings today besides Daddy coming home. The kids’ school blessed us with a bag full of goodies for the kids and our family during this season of traveling to the hospital. It has not been easy for the kids to transition schools in the middle of the year and leave their friends and teachers of Arizona, but we have been blessed again with wonderful teachers at McDill, my alma mater. Thank you McDill staff for loving our kids.

Our other praise is we received a new machine for Jed here at home. We were running into road blocks trying to get Jed a bipap machine through insurance. We had friends offer machines they were no longer using, however the Doctors were persistent. Glad to say that tonight Jed is home with a Trilogy 100 machine. The respiratory therapist said it was actually good that Jed was denied by insurance originally because it forced the Doctors to become more creative in their search for a solution. This is a newer design where the machine can act as a ventilator, cpap, and bipap all-in-one. Beyond its versatility, it is more comfortable then the hospital’s setup. “Well as comfortable as wearing a Darth Vader mask to bed can be”, according to Jed. The prayer is that this would allow for Jed’s lung muscles to rest and help with recovery time. He has even been instructed to take it with him when he returns to the hospital since this machine is better suited for him.

Unfortunately Jed has been told to rest, take it easy and enjoy his time at home since he will most likely be returning to the hospital again sooner than he would desire. We have been told that at this stage in the process he will be spending more days in the hospital than out.

Continued prayer for health for Jed and our family, and healing is appreciated.
