Faster than expected

If ‘every setback is an opportunity’, then let’s just say we’ve had plenty of opportunities lately.

Kirby’s overall prognosis is not promising. We have been told that the cancer is accelerating and that we can expect less than 12 months together. This is devastating news. Kirby actually feels quite well at the moment so the news seems unbelievable. [...]

My last chemo!

Earlier this week on Thursday I had my final chemotherapy session. After five long months and 16 doses of chemo I'm so relieved to be finished. I'm rocking a shiny bald scalp, about 3 eyelashes on each eye lid, barely visable eye brows, swollen feet and legs, stiff joints, loose toenails, and some nausea... and I feel about 150 years old. But other than that, I've come out the other side reasonably unscathed and hopefully with a bunch of dead cancer cells.[...]

A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Chemo round 4 complete

The last seven days have been a bit like a roller coaster ride for us. But not a fun, new-age, theme park roller coaster ride. More like one of those shitty, rickety, houso, carnival rides that are held together with glue and sticky-tape and monitored by the guy with the trucker’s cap and a mullet… and I’m pretty sure one of the wheels on our carriage has fallen off… and my mother in-law is also in our carriage… and the kids are screaming… but who cares because we have a puppy in our laps. No wait, the puppy just jumped out. Oh look, fairy floss. [...]
