A Weekend of Memories |8-22-16|
Saturday night we had a little surprise going away party for Mike. To say he was surprised, is an understatement. His friend, Scott helped me out so much by offering to host the party at his shop, and cooked the meat. Friends and family came out to wish him well before he goes into the hospital on Sunday. I counted out his days, and if everything goes perfectly (I can dream) then his Homecoming should be on December 11. That's a long time to be away from the kids. It helps to know he's feeling so good this week, and everyone commented on Saturday that he looked great and seemed like his old self. It was a perfect night. Thank you to everyone that helped put this together for him.
Sunday, Steve & Margo Chartier invited us out to their beautiful home to ride horses and swim. Molly has been dreaming of going horseback riding for quite awhile now. She told Mike the other night that everything would just be better if she had her own horse to ride whenever she wanted. Mike said, "This isn't really the best time to get a horse. I'm going into the hospital, and we're heading into winter." Molly replied, "I didn't say I wanted a horse RIGHT NOW!" to which, Mike replied, "Ok, well maybe next summer we can think about getting a horse." Molly was pretty ticked, "WWHHHAATTTT??? Neeexxxxxxtttttt suuuummmmmeeerrrr?" (eye roll, sighs, groans) Mike asks, "Well when were you thinking we should get one then?" Molly declares, "I was thinking tomorrow or the next day!"
Mike and I laughed about that, and then we were in trouble for laughing.
Anyways, so we surprised her with the horses at Steve & Margo's house and she was so excited. She hasn't stopped talking about it, and I think we just dug ourselves a deeper hold about getting that horse next year.
Reid and Lucy loved swimming more than the horses, although, Lucy will probably say she's obsessed with horses too, just to drive Molly crazy.

A couple quick notes:
1. I'm sorry that there are a few good friends whom I forgot to invite on Saturday, and I hope you'll forgive me. I'm not very good at those kinds of things. I never want to hurt any feelings, but was trying to be conscious to not invite too many people and make Mike nervous about the crowd.
2. In my last post, I don't think I made it clear that Steve & Jenny didn't actually cook all of the meals that they brought up to our house last week. The meals were made by several people who volunteered to cook though the Cooking 4 community. A wonderful woman by the name of Julie Smith is the coordinator for this initiative, and she did a fantastic job lining up so many delicious meals for our family. We are so fortunate that they thought of us. If you would like to be part of their team, please look them up on Facebook and get in contact with Julie. It still blows my mind to think of how awesome these people are to go out of their way cooking for people like us. Seriously amazing.
3. Mike now has 3 days in a row of wearing overalls again, and I love it. I never thought I'd say that.
4. Check out all of the new pictures I added! We really had a great weekend. The first like that, in a long time!

Some jokes for the return of the overalls. Q. Why did the scarecrow win the Nobel prize? A. Because he was out standing in his field. Q. Why can't the bankrupt farmer complain? A. Because he has no beef. Q. Did you hear about the wooden tractor ? A. It had wooden wheels, wooden engine, wooden transmission and wooden work.
