And here I thought I had the flu... 2/25/16

After several days of feeling terrible Bill and I trudged to the emergency room about a week ago. Doctors thought that things sounded kind of suspicious so they ordered some tests and a consultation. I had a few painful days in between and then Bill and I had a meeting with a very kind and compassionate RN CPN by the name of Kathleen Barrett at the Health Partners Specialty Center. She felt that something more sinister was going on, and immediately got me in for some additional tests and a CT scan.

The testing and scans revealed that I have a rather suspicious looking mass in lower abdomen. A biopsy was taken and it definitely not the flu, rather an Adenocarcinoma that has taken up residence in my guts. Happy Wednesday to me, I have Cancer!

The doctors at Regions rallied around us. We are in the process of coming up with a treatment plan to cure my cancer.

Step 1. Start Chemo & Radiation to shrink the uninvited visitor to an operable size.
Step 2. Evict the squatter
Step 3. More Chemo!
Step 4. Cured!

Right now this is the plan.

What is needed most right now is your thoughts and prayers. Please allow us to digest the news and work with my doctors to start attacking this thing. I cherish your love, friendship, prayers, and support.

For the time being please no social media posts until I have had a chance to talk to all of my close friends and family both near and far. Bill and I will be posting all of the updates here and this will be the best place to keep up with how I am doing. Thank you for respecting this as it will help me focus on the next few days of diagnosing and starting treatment.
