I posted live updates on facebook--the gist is Peter had a closed loop bowel obstruction, went to immediately to surgery and the best case scenario happened--no tissue had died and they untwisted it, checked the rest of his bowels for any other potential kinks (there were none) and put him back together.
Overall this recovery has been crazy smooth. Thank you for your prayers!! He's been able to sleep and eat (clear liquid diet only). He's had some shoulder pain in addition to the abdominal pain, and about 24 hours post surgery his right shoulder flared up SO BAD. It was awful. We are thinking referred gas pain hitting a nerve, but we don't really know what it is yet. We plan to discuss with the doctors on rounds tomorrow. Please pray for his system to wake up and get moving, for no more pain, rapid healing, and for the peace of God to fill this place!
Crazy cool little story: on a walk, Peter recognized the name of the man next door to us. Turns out he is a friend and Peter was able to sit and talk with him for a while! He's got a roommate haha! =) God's faithfulness is so good!

It is amazing how God had a divine appointment at the hospital after your own surgery. His ways are sometimes unfathomable. Continuing to pray for your recovery and glimpses of how He is using you.
