The end of 2017!

Beautiful, wonderful, family and friends!

Thank you for your continued prayers! Peter was discharged 12/16 after getting emergency abdominal surgery to untwist his intestines. The recovery went better than we could have dreamed, and we were able to celebrate at all of our family Christmas gatherings!! That was a deep desire in my heart and God protected it for me. I’m so thankful![...]

12/13: Admitted

I posted live updates on facebook--the gist is Peter had a closed loop bowel obstruction, went to immediately to surgery and the best case scenario happened--no tissue had died and they untwisted it, checked the rest of his bowels for any other potential kinks (there were none) and put him back together.[...]

12/12: ER

Yesterday Peter and I had the conversation about our plan to stop posting updates soon because things have been going so wonderfully smoothly. Then tonight we were up all night with abdominal pain and vomiting. Recovery isn’t a “fair” fight, but we are thankful for our care providers and our caring community.  [...]

11/21: Four Weeks After Surgery

Four weeks ago Peter was in RPLND surgery, and 12 days ago he was discharged from our Kalamazoo hospital stay.

Day to day we sometimes feel that we don’t see a lot of improvement, or that we may be taking steps backwards in recovery, but week to week Peter is absolutely regaining strength and health. It’s just slow going. We are looking into Physical Therapy to help him regain strength the right way and help with some of the pain he is still experiencing. [...]

11/9: HOME!

All three of us are home and reunited! I wish I could adequately express how much of a relief it is that I actually feel like Peter’s recovery and my own health are at the point where I can care for both him and Esther (and myself) all at home together. Praise God!![...]

11/7: at hospital

Peter is A LOT more comfortable. This batch of doctors was waiting on information from IU. Not sure on when/if a second scan will be to check on fluid levels. I’m wondering if they may be overnighting information here. Pray for divine knowledge, since Peter’s surgery is rare and not done here often, if at all.[...]

11/6: hospital still

Looking like Peter will be at the hospital for observation for a few days. Waiting to see if his body will absorb the small amount of extra fluid that is causing all of this or if he will need an abdominal drain. The amazing doctors from Indiana University have been in touch and sharing information with Bronson. [...]
