T-1 (Getting Close!)

Today was a "rest day" from most of the drugs - a day to catch breath between chemo and transplant. Portland hit 60 degrees and it was glorious to sit in the sunshine this morning with my mom.  The chemo round went well, and we are thankful.

My mom's donor spent the past week preparing for donation - each day receiving medication to move his stem cells into his vascular system. Today the stem cells were "harvested," given to a courier, and are currently en route to OHSU. We were excited to learn details about the donor: a 26 year old male, international from Europe, and just about as perfect a match as we could hope.

The transplant is set for 7 pm on Valentine's Day. It is supposed to be a bit of an anti-climatic affair: the stem cells will drip into my mom's vascular system via IV over the course of a few hours - and that's it! The real challenge begins when the transplant is done, as her body acclimates to foreign cells settling into her body. Please pray mightily over this process. We are praying and trusting for complete acclimation, and absolutely no rejection.

What a process this has been! She's just such a trooper. I'm so proud of her, of the grace and dignity and faith with which she has faced the entire past year, and with which she faces the experience awaiting her tomorrow.

Please keep praying with us, and encouraging her here, in the FB group, and in any other way you can. We are so thankful for you!
