Mon, 2/16/15 After 1st Chemo

My first-ever chemo infusion today went fabulously! Thank you so much for all your prayers!

It was a long day and not at all boring because they were in and out of my room so much there was never time to really chill. Glad to be home and eat dinner with the family. The girls have been amazing in helping to keep the house clean, doing laundry, and making meals. I am truly fortunate to have such wonderful kids/teens/offspring.

Poor Scott's exhausted. The room was so tiny and he had to keep getting up and down and moving and getting me water. Plus drive home to get me something (ugh! poor planning on my part). He's a ROCK STAR husband!

So, no nausea. My Oncologist thinks I can avoid it if I just keep pumping the fluids. They infuse two different types of nausea medicine before they even start the chemo so I'm hoping to avoid taking the Zofran, but will if I need to take it. Better to not be nauseous.

The only side-effect so far is the extreme sensitivity to cold. I have to wear gloves to touch anything colder than room temperature. It is the strangest feeling. Think of the movie Frozen where you see things start to slowly freeze. That's what it feels like. I'm even wearing gloves while I type because my fingers get cold and it feels like I'm getting zapped by the key board. I can't drink or eat cold food/drinks either. Makes my throat feel like it's freezing up. Whoops! This is a "NO FROZONE!!!", according to Scott. Not his favorite movie. :)

Feeling a little tired. Think it's partially from the Benadryl. Plus, I know exhaustion will be a definite side-effect. But a good one; my body needs to heal. However, my orders are to: "remain physically active and drink plenty of fluids."  Which is great! I've already spent most of December and January in bed sick, Happy to be able to do things! Plus, the iron I'm taking really helps with the anemia--so I have more energy and like food again. Yay!

Ok. Enough of all this. Thank you so much for your kind words, texts, emails, cards, Facebook messages, etc. But mostly thank you for your prayers. They're working! God has been so merciful through all of this. I get to keep my hair! The treatment has a very high success rate. I feel great. The list is long! Thank you!

Have a most wonderful and productive week!

Sarah

Hi Sarah. I'm glad that things are going well. Keep up the humor. HA. I loved Scott's NO FROZONE quote. Frozen is my granddaughters favorite movie. Our thoughts are prayers are with you. Kathy Lausted

Hey there cuz! I was so sad to hear the devastating news, buy I knew that if anyone can beat cancer, it's you. You have always been an inspiration! You have one of the kindest and happiest souls I've ever known. You have an awesome support team. We're all praying for your recovery and to give Scott and your girls the strength they'll need to get you through this. I love you so very much! Xoxo
