A New Day

After being very frustrated with yesterday's adventures, seeing the NCAA championship game was just what I needed. What an exciting win for Villanova over UNC! Sharing it with Bill and Claudia was even more special since their Texas Tech season tickets are next to ours and we really enjoy basketball. I still need to watch the highlights from last night's game.

This morning Jason and I were up early for my 6:30 proton appointment, which went well, as usual. Afterward we had breakfast and coffee at a deli in Rice Village. The menu was hard to navigate for my diet but they were very accommodating and we were able to negotiate a good, nutritious meal that fit my needs. By the time we finished it was time to head back over to MDA for my appointment with the radiologist.

The radiologist appointments are weekly and the purpose is for the doctor to talk with me and see that therapy is going well. They also take vitals, check for weird symptoms, etc. Today we had several questions about insurance and the doctor said this is a constant struggle for them, to get insurance to cover the best possible treatment for their patients. I told him some of my economic arguments and he said that we should publish some papers together. I would consider it, but first I have to finish the current project I'm working on. Many people have said to me, and they are correct, CANCER IS A FULL TIME JOB!

Cancer is a full time job from the day you are given that diagnosis and more often than not, a part/way of life. But gals like us, it just makes us more determined and stronger. Think of you everyday.

You're doing the best you can for yourself, with Jason's help of course. It's a shame that insurance is a long course of hoops to jump. I hope that you continue to find hours of ease and enjoyment every day (even on a day when aggravation runs high)--something as simple as a good lunch or a walk through a garden area. It's so important that you keep your spirits high, so don't let the bozos get you down!!
