Getting Back to Some Kind of Normal

I took yesterday off for rest and to try to get over this congestion/cough that's been getting me down. It seemed to be helpful because I slept better last night and felt so much better this morning. I also realized this morning that reorganization of the house is definitely in order. I need to get the pantry cleaned out and restocked with the right foods. I need to do the same to the fridge and freezer. I need a stool in the bathroom so I can sit while getting ready in the mornings. I also need to clean out my closet and throw out all of the clothes I don't wear (not shoes, though, NEVER shoes). In addition, we never hung the art after the remodel was finished. The flooring company is still looking for the custom rug that we didn't have an opportunity to follow up on three months ago. Let's hope it isn't lost in some warehouse somewhere! And there is so much more that we will whittle away at bit by bit. So, as you can see, settling back in is going to be so much fun! Anyone who wants to join in on the party, let us know!

I spent about 3 hours at work today but I took it a little easier than I did earlier in the week. I settled some things that were long overdue and it definitely took some stress off. As I was leaving I picked up a stack of papers that were sitting on top of my file drawers. Turns out I had a jury summons in February that I apparently knew about then and I was supposed to report on February 16. I immediately called to explain and apparently they don't even need proof that I had a medical issue. They just took my word for it-- I guess not many people fabricate a brain tumor story just to get out of jury duty. So, anyway, it seems to be an effective excuse if you ever need one. Hopefully there was no warrant out for my arrest.

I came home early to rest and save some energy for tonight, when the four of us go out for a family dinner to talk about our settling in (or our lack thereof), Aidan's trip to space camp on Sunday, both kids' needs for school, and to catch up on what everyone is doing, thinking, and planning. As soon as we know more about our expected visits to MDA and how our summer is looking, we are going to consider planning a short family trip that is not centered around a brain tumor! I'm thinking a nice beach or a mountain hideaway, but I'm sure the kids will have their own ideas. So far I've heard desires to see the Grand Canyon and Disney. I'm thinking the former has a better chance than the latter. Can't blame Aidan for trying, though! By the way, I came home today to a box of beautiful tulips and no card. Thank you to whoever sent them, they really brightened my day!

Don't forget Disney is still on Aiden's bucket list. I know someone who lives in Orlando who would love to see the gang. By the way, all that talk of cleaning exhausted me. I am glad you are enjoying home life.

If you come to the East Coast, we have plenty of room for a family of four. And all the wifi you could need. Plus we're a quick train trip to DC or Orlando!! (Disney AND universal) 😉 And I will cook to keep you in ketosis. - just sayin...
