Teeth and Chemo- It's Always Something!

Our trip home from Houston was uneventful and always seems fast when I'm with Lois because we just talk the entire drive about everything and nothing at the same time. The morning we were leaving I was eating bacon and broke a tooth. First off, this is proof that eating bacon is evil- the Torah was right! Secondly, I have broken teeth twice before, once when eating a sandwich and once while eating an enchilada, neither of which were particularly hard foods. My overall feeling is that I've inherited soft teeth. I'd share how I know this but I don't want to publicly share information about people I may need later. You know, self preservation. Third, according to the MD Anderson website, cancer treatment such as chemotherapy and radiation to the head or neck can create problems with the teeth, salivary glands, and gums. Lucky me!

Because cancer patients are susceptible to infection and mouth issues mentioned above, MD Anderson has a dental clinic on site. I called for the referral and hoping to get in when I go back on the 19th. Although the tooth is broken, it doesn't seem to be hurting so I'm just going to very careful and keep it as clean as possible until I can get it fixed. If I had to choose between having a good scan week or a broken tooth, I will definitely take the good scan.

Last night I took my last  of the chemo pills for round 11. I had a few hours one day of stomach discomfort, the same as in round 10. At the end of April I will take 5 more pills for round 12. I cannot wait to have a break from the monthly chemo. I will be "finished" indefinitely unless the doctors see something of concern at some point that they think warrants further treatment. But now is not the time to worry about that. I'm not planning to have any other issues. I'm planning to keep doing what I'm doing now Livin' La Vida Glioma!

Broke one of mine on Laffy Taffy. Pancake may have put a hex on bacon. That being said, if I was going to eat a meat, it would be bacon. It is more of a flavor than a substance to me. Grateful to hear the news that Round 12 may be the last. Praying for that outcome. Much love & many prayers, Eva

Chemo can ruin teeth...hang in there. Damn it! I couldn't stand to have a broken tooth not fixed like in an emergency. Be careful, it could cut your gums or break off even more. Good luck. Hate going to the dentist...yeowwwwww. ( love you).🙃

You're almost there! I hear there are great asthetic dentistry places in Texas. Maybe you can get your insurance to pay for a new grill. I'd go gold, personally. But maybe blue aluminum--like UK and like the Bud Light can--could be new trends.
