Update from Steve
I am deeply touched and inspired by your beautiful posts. When Marion, Ann and Betsy asked me if it would be ok to set up a web page where people could find news about my cancer and treatment, I thought it would mostly be updates for others. I didn’t expect it to be a collection of testimonials, but I’m getting used to that, and I truly appreciate your support. Thanks also to those of you who have sent beautiful gifts and cards filled with reflection and hope.
I’m getting chemotherapy every two weeks. The infusions start in the hospital. I wear a pump home that delivers one of the drugs into a port in my jugular vein over the next 46 hrs. The second treatment began Mar 12. Of course this is a drag, but my family and friends are taking really good care of me.
Spring is here. The days are getting longer and warmer. This complements your inspirational posts. Thanks for your encouragement. More soon.
Love,
Steve

Steve and Betsy, This is Sara Curtis from the neighborhood and Cliff Sent us your link. I provide neurofeedback training via a system called NeurOptimal in Chapel Hill. Folks receiving chemotherapy have found it to be very useful in reducing brainfog and many of the other symptoms that go along with the treatment. I also have a system here for local clients and family. The sessions last 34 minutes and are pretty awesome. I would be so glad to come and give one or both of you sessions. If desired I often add some Reiki to the process as it seems to enhance it. My heart goes out to both of you and your family. Sara
Sending you love love love.
Thanks for your update Steve! Trout lilies are blooming at the creeks today -- truly spring is here.
Hi Steve, Just saw your personal update, and so good to hear that you're second treatment is already underway. With your terrific family and close friends, the miracles of modern medicine and the groundswell of support from so many people you continue to touch, I am truly optimistic! You've always been a dragon slayer, and this is the biggest dragon so far (well, up there with corporate hog operations and their "regulators"). Am pulling for you and sending every good thought as you get through this and come out smiling and ready to get back to the rest of your life. Always, merry
Hi Steve, you have no idea how many people are activists and give more because of your example. I am thankful there are chemo drugs that can help you now….I know several people with colon cancer who went into remission from their chemo…I am sure this will happen for you! Red bellied water snake down at the pond this afternoon.
Steve -- just received news of your diagnosis and treatment and wanted to write to say hello and send healing, restorative wishes and energy your way. We had the first ever EJ faculty roundtable this afternoon, and at the start of the conversation we took a moment to acknowledge your dedication and contribution to the movement. You would have been thrilled to see the many different perspectives represented, and perhaps chuckled at the typically academic quandaries posed (but how can we MEASURE inequity?). Please know we missed you, and look forward to you joining us at the next gathering. With metta -- Michelle
Steve, you are generous beyond words to let us into your journey. It helps us, too. It's Spring, and young men's (such as yourself) fancy turns to life and love. Love, Jo
Steve: Eve and I are thinking of you and praying for success for your treatments. You have been the model of a caring and committed teacher and researcher for your students. I love to see the photos posted on your website, especially of the early spring flowers. Hoping you are able to enjoy the emergence of life all around us over the next two months. Our best to you, Betsy and family, Carl and Eve Shy
Steve, I am so grateful for everything you have done to raise consciousness and help others through your study and work. I am terribly sorry that you are now having to undertake this struggle. You know that there are a lot of people pulling for you and sending you positive thoughts and prayers... and if there is anything that the physician community can do for you, please let us know! Warmest and loving best wishes!, Andy
Hello Steve and Family, I just learned of the health challenges you are facing, Steve. I just want to say thank you for all you have done for we Hanford Downwinders and so many other communities like ours. You have made this world a better, more compassionate place. I hope you have some more of that nice fall weather than lets you go out on the patio and see the glorious fall foliage. trisha pritikin
