June Update
Just a brief update as there is little to add since our last post. Steve is faring much the same as last month with no obvious changes good or bad. He did see a well-respected oncologist at Duke last week for a second opinion. The Duke doc has been conducting some promising research/clinical trials in the area of immunotherapy, but he said unequivocally that colon cancer was not responsive to this approach. In essence, he agreed with Steve’s current treatment plan with a couple of tweaks here and there. We liked him enough and found his thoughts on Steve’s case to be sufficiently helpful that we may well check in with him again in the future when/if we reach a crossroads regarding treatment choices. In the meantime, Steve will continue with his bi-weekly chemo infusions at UNC for two more months, then another scan to check on the metastatic tumors, then a treatment plan based on the scan results.
Many thanks, as always, for keeping Steve in your thoughts and prayers and hearts.

Never hurts to have more information. We're lucky to have such good research facilities close by, Look forward to seeing you again soon!
I'm glad to have this message, think of Steve often and am studying some of his writings for current work regarding plutonium at Rocky Flats. Please give him my greeting and warm regards. Love to all, LeRoy
Thanks so much for keeping me in the loop. I think of all of you often and send love and support and healing. Again, Steve, if you would like reiki and neurofeedback (NeurOptimal ) I am very happy to give you sessions. The neurofeedback is very helpful for folks receiving chemotherapy. The reiki is pure healing comfort and feels great with the neurofeedback. It requires no travel since I have the software in a laptop and live about 5 minutes from you! Love to all of you! Sara
Thank you so much for keeping folks informed, as we think of Steve - and all of you - often. I hope the second opinion provided some peace of mind, even if it didn't offer new tools. Hope the abundant sunshine brings strength to you all! Michelle
Thanks very much for the update. I ask God's blessing on you all daily, and hope that the therapy works well. Glad to hear that the doc who gave the second opinion concurs with the ongoing treatment. It's good to know that there isn't something being missed.
Glad you got a second opinion and feel ok about continuing on your same treatment plan. Hopefully it continues to serve you and make you feel BETTER. I'm always thinking about you all and hope to come back for another visit!! Much love :)

Hi Steve, I think of you so often, and hope the news has been good, with "better living through chemistry" TM paying off for one incredible advocate for less chemicals and pollution in the environment, particularly for folks in places like SE Halifax County. The pix of you, with your familia and friends have been great to see, and you guys clearly continue to enjoy life, music, the great outdoors, and no doubt the fact that we have a bona fide socialist giving Hilary a run for her money. Here's to time, and the health to enjoy it with. And if anyone can defy the odds, it's you Steve-- you've already proved that! All my very best, and love from a leader of your (large) Bay Area fan club. You've done so much for so many, and continue to just by being the who you are. Healing hugs, Merry
thinking of all of you so often, and sending lots of love... Cynthia
